Waiting for "The Call"

“Honey, it’s always crap. Every book I write is crap. It’s my job to fix the crap afterwards,” according to Nora Roberts. Well, I've got it half right. Still working on the "fixing it" part. Carina Press- yay! November 9, 2009

Filed under: Writing and Life — Autumn Macarthur @ 8:18 pm

Big publishing news today is the launch of Harlequin’s new ebook only imprint, Carina Press.

It sounds exciting- they are open to a wide range of submissions, including submissions Harlequin Mills and Boon have rejected. I love their tagline- Where no great story goes untold. Just reading the submission guidelines are exciting- I can see some fun books being released here!

Kudos to Harlequin for stretching the boundaries a little more. With the great talent they have leading the ship and the buzz they have already produced, they should do fabulously well.

It’s Harlequin, but not as we know it…

sounds like Harlequin’s response to Ellora’s Cave and the like. More variety, more writers, more risque and lower overhead.

Yes, I think the epubs are Harlequin’s biggest competitors. Lower overheads = able to take more risks with what is published = wider range of possibilities for readers and writers. I thinkCarina Presswill do this well, and I’m excited.

Thanks alot for posting. I’ll check it out as I’m on the verge of submitting.

Exciting! Good luck with that, Steph!
